Dear Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I sit down to write this condolence in regards to my sister-in-law.
Just as I never in my life called my brother by his given name of Andrew or even Andy (he will always be “Butzie”), so too I got accustomed to calling Eleanor “Geri”, which is how she was first introduced to us Shimas.
I was my brother’s Best Man when he married, and Geri’s sister Mary (RIP) was the maid of honor. What beautiful sisters!
I was a freshman at Rutgers in 1969 when I visited Butzie and Geri in their apt in Old Bridge for the first time, soon after they had their first child, my nephew, Andy. They were so very happy!
Lots of wonderful memories of family times in New Jersey….I could go on and on.
But for now, let me simply say that as my closest and yes oldest family members depart this world to meet and be with their Maker, I pray that Butz and Geri are reunited for all eternity. This belief is how I can best cope with their passing.
Love,
“Ricky”

Geri and I were in the Class of ’66 at East Orange Catholic HS. She was always the nicest person and a friend to everyone. I have many fond memories. I’m so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
