“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
Erik was born on February 22nd, 1973 in Queens, New York to Anthony and Karen Lombardo. After Erik graduated from Palm Coast High School in 1991, he joined the Navy and began his career as a Non-Destructive Testing Engineer. Erik’s mastery as a Level III Inspector in Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, and Eddy Current test inspections evolved into his troubleshooting and development of dozens of new techniques and inventions contributing to five US patents and one international patent.
In 1994, while stationed in the Navy in Guam, Erik met the love of his life Amber and they were married within six months. Erik is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Morgan Amber Lombardo, daughter- Tiffany Landes and her husband Joshua Landes, father- Anthony Lombardo, brother- Anthony Lombardo and his wife Nicole Lombardo, and uncle- Robert Nethery. He was a loving father, passionate husband, intense teacher, sincere counselor and loyal friend.
Throughout Erik’s extended journeys to over 28 countries he was lucky to find kindred souls who together formed an international web of friendships. Erik was a true adventurer and in the power of his presence his family and friends knew they were loved, supported and inspired to pursue their unique life journeys to “Never wait- always take every opportunity-to live-to see the world-and to love intensely at 100%.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the community service organizations that Erik was a member of and felt strongly about: the Space Coast Parrot Head Club (Contact Gus Liby at: UnaMasCerveza@currently.com) and the Lions Club International Disaster Relief ( https://www.lionsclubs.org/en/donate).
“Grief is like the wake behind a boat. It starts out as a huge wave that follows close behind you and is big enough to swamp and drown you if you suddenly stop moving forward. But if you do keep moving, the big wake will eventually dissipate. And after a long time, the waters of your life get calm again, and that is when the memories of those who have left begin to shine as bright and as enduring as the stars above.” – Jimmy Buffet

Without words and with tears in my eyes. Good friend and great person, but a terrible kayak fisherman in Chipiona. In heaven, you are probably already organizing one of your barbecues and catching big fish.
We will always remember you and miss you very much.
Now I don’t know who I’m going to argue with about who caught the biggest fish.
I was looking forward to visiting you to teach you how to fish for sharks properly, but that will have to wait.
I hope that from heaven, you’ll hook me a good fish while I’m still down here.
A big hug from a true friend.
I´ll miss you bro !!!

Erik was such a good friend and will be truly missed. While a practical joker he had a heart of gold. We did a lot of wild and crazy things together like building a 500 ft zip line on his property to brewing an insanley hopped beer to shooting clays in his field. We also used our brain power to file several patents together and solve some really cool technical challenges. Thanks for all the memories brother!
To Amber, Tiff and all of the family left, our hearts go out to you.

Well this is certainly a shock and sad news. An incredible man. One I worked with for many years and respected fully. He was good with his NDE skills but also with his people skills. Our time working together parted but we kept in touch.
Dang… An exceptional man and NDE person.
I pray for God’s peace and comfort on Eric’s family. That God will be present with the eternal comfort only He can provide.

I heard about this at work and I’m so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Erik for a long time but every time we talked it was like we were friends for years. He was very nice and very genuine always. I wish I got to spend more time with him, and I wish his family and close friends my deepest condolences. Rest easy friend, there is no doubt you lived life the right way!
