Frances Lucille Sandefur, 87, of Melbourne, Florida passed away peacefully November 4, 2026.
Frances was born November 2, 1939, in Mishawaka, Indiana to parents Harold Edward Buck, Sr. and Hattie Dolly Gill (Buck). She spent most of her life in Mishawaka, attending Mishawaka High School and working for the Crayola factory for many years. Frances enjoyed working for Crayola and made many friends during her time there before the factory was moved to Gary, Indiana. After working for Crayola, Frances began working as a manager at a hotel in Mishawaka and loved her time spent there before retiring and moving to Melbourne, Florida in 2012.
Frances had many joys throughout her life. She enjoyed singing, listening to records, shopping, doing activities with her large and loving family, and spending time with her friends. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, and she especially loved watching Christmas movies. Later in life, Frances moved into Trinity Towers South in Melbourne, Florida, where she had a large group of friends. She spent much of her time there with her friends playing bingo, dice, euchre and other card games, Wii bowling, going to downtown Melbourne for dinner, shopping, and shows at the Theatre, and volunteering with the Trinity Towers Food Bank.
Frances is predeceased by her parents, Harold Edward Buck, Sr. and Hattie Dolly Gill (Buck); her brothers: Harold Edward Buck, Jr., Richard Buck, Lonnie (Chris) Buck, and Dale (Shawna) Buck; and her sister, Linda Sandefur. Frances was always deeply proud of her brothers’ military service; Richard and Lonnie having served in the United States Marine Corps and Dale having served in the United States Army.
Left to cherish Frances’ memory are her brother, Mike (late Alice) Buck; sisters: Gloria Olinger, Melody Borror, and Betty Hale; daughters: Kathy (Marvin) Walters and Diana (David) Gadacz; sons: Gerald Sandefur and Charles (Janice) Sandefur; 16 grandchildren and their 7 spouses; 22 great-grandchildren and their 6 spouses; her great-great granddaughter, Sa-Mora, who she cherished deeply; her friends from Trinity Towers: Bob, Connie, Bonnie, Dot, and Mary; and countless friends and extended family members.
