G. Joyce Ervin

February 03, 1935 ~ July 16, 2025

(Gwendolyn) Joyce Ervin, age 90, of Sebastian, FL, passed peacefully into eternal rest during senior nap hour on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at home. Her final fall — unlike the two previous ones in the past ten months that led to surgeries — required no intervention. Instead, it gently ushered her into a pain-free departure. With grace and quiet strength, she chose a permanent vacation in Heaven, following battles with dementia, stroke, and PAD.

Born in Old Hickory, TN in 1935 to Jessie and Haskel Nixon, Joyce graduated from Goodlettsville High School. Her true journey began in 1965 when she married her soul mate and favorite travel companion, Boyd. Together, they embodied a life of love, service, and family. Opening their hearts and home to three foster children, they maintained a deep bond with Nicole Mastin (deceased), and continued loving ties with her son, Seth (Setara) Mastin. Their affection for Dobermans and Schnauzers inspired Joyce to take up dog grooming.

Her professional life was as colorful as the ailments she faced at the end. Joyce held clerical roles at General Credit and Loan, Service Merchandise, and General Electric Supply. She drove a Wilson County school bus and groomed pets with pride. A passionate quilter, she gifted her handiwork to many. Daily beach walks brought her joy as she collected sea glass and shells. Her faith, love for music and birds, and serious appreciation for ice cream were constants she lovingly passed down to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, Boyd Ervin; daughter Debbie (Bob) Goldsby; granddaughters Rachel (Brian) Flores and Katelyn Weir; six great-grandchildren: Meah, Benjamin, Samuel, Joy, and Eleanor Flores, and Orion Weir. She also leaves behind her sister Patsy Clark; nieces Sarina McClelland, Gloria Myrick, and Sandy Clark; and nephews Benny and Timmy Tippet. She was preceded in death by her parents, foster daughter Nicole, and her sister Fay Tippet, who passed just two months prior.

The distribution of her ashes will take place on the family farm, once its construction is complete. To honor Joyce’s memory, contributions of time or donations to your local animal shelter or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital — causes close to her heart — are deeply appreciated

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
