September 05, 1934 ~ June 13, 2021

George “Murphy” James Hesnan

George, 86, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away of natural causes on June 13, 2021. George was born in Lehigh, PA as the second of four children to William and Marie Hesnan. After graduating St.
Michael’s High School in Jersey City and Seton Hall University where he was a four-year scholarship athlete, George enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant. During his 6 years of service, George received many commendations as a Navy deep sea diver. He left the Navy, taking the great advice of his loving wife of 63 years Joan to pursue a career in business. George became a highly successful G.A. for Allstate Insurance, a career that lasted over 30 years. During that time, he and his wife Joan opened an exceedingly popular tavern called Hesnan’s Pine Inn. While raising their family in Brick, George was very active in town affairs and clubs. He was a member of the Junior Sports League, Rotary, and Knights of Columbus, as well as being a communicant of St. Dominic’s RC church. George and Joan retired to Florida in 2000.
George is predeceased by his parents, his wonderful brothers, Pat and Bill, and his beloved nephew Billy. George is survived by his ever-loving wife Joan, his loving sister Peg, his devoted children, and their spouses, Kevin and Barbara Hesnan; Kathy and Rich Wodraska; Greg and Sharon Hesnan; and Judy Hesnan. He is also survived by grandchildren Bryane, Kyle, Ryan and Jaime, Connor, Samantha, and his great grandchildren Charlie and Amelia, and his life-long friend John Jackson, as well as canine companions Bo and Hiccup. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and loyal friends, the sum of which could fill a stadium.
George’s passion was sports, from peewees to pros, but he was happiest when with family. Whether it was drama, sports, or dance, he never missed an event in which his grandchildren participated. While he will be missed with all our hearts, he is now with family and friends that he had faith he would be with again. A Celebration of Life will be held at future date

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
