George Robert Lange, formerly of Madison and Guilford, died in Vero Beach, Florida on July 14, 2026 at the age of 82.
He was the widower of Jean Howell Lange, his wife of 27 years. Mr. Lange is survived by his son George (Allison) of Lockport, New York and by his daughter Jennifer (Alex) of Columbus, Ohio, along with five grandchildren. His longtime and faithful partner Nancy Ann Bader was by his side when he died, as was his Scottish Terrier, Fergus.
Mr. Lange enjoyed a distinguished career over the 35 years he served as a teacher, counselor, and District Administrator in the Guilford and New Haven Public Schools. He held four graduate degrees in addition to a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, all from institutions of higher education in Connecticut. As a Past President of the Connecticut School Counselors Association (CSCA), he was a presenter at several statewide and national professional conferences. He was also elected to the National Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) while serving as Director of Operations in the Guilford school system.
After his retirement, he was selected as Vice Chair of the Democratic Party in Indian River County and served as Commodore of the Fort Pierce Yacht Club. While in Florida, he became to love the game of golf and the many challenges it presented.
Mr. Lange will be interred in the Mausoleum at Beaverdale Memorial Park in New Haven at the convenience of the family.
