Our friend, mentor, and father, Glenn D Anderson of Pittsburgh, PA, long time resident of Vero Beach, Fl has passed away.
Growing up, and even now, we never hesitated to tell people who our hero was or who we wanted to be like when we grew up. It is, and always will, be reflective of our father. He was the strongest man we have ever known. He worked his entire life to provide for his family and he never once complained about it. He was as stubborn as an old goat and was very private with his emotions. He was a very firm man but was also very loving. There was never a time where he wasn’t there for those he cared for.
If you had the pleasure of knowing him, you would know his absolute dedication to people. At times he was a hard man, but it was for a reason. He was extremely generous in helping others. We always had an extra “Family” member living with us. Whether it be a cousin, friend, or those in need, Dad would always welcome them with open arms. He always donated to help those less fortunate and he never wanted any recognition for it and would do it anonymously.
There is a generation of those who had the chance to know him who owe a part of their hearts to him. We who knew him are all extremely grateful to have spent time with him.
In the end he was surrounded by loving family and friends. He was not in pain and is going to a better place. We know that our God and Savior is welcoming him with open arms. He’s happy to have him and knowing dad he’s probably already working on furniture up there. He will always be our rock and the standard to which we hold ourselves to. We miss you Dad.
