Glenn Michael Blume

October 22, 1942 ~ June 29, 2025

Glenn Michael Blume, 82, was born on October 22, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio, and he died on June 29, 2025, in Vero Beach, Florida. He graduated from Bexley High School in 1960. He attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and he completed 2 ½ years before joining the United States Army. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Glenn returned to the university and graduated with a Physics Degree from The Ohio State University in 1971. He loved to fly, and he attended the Ohio State University Department of Aviation and received his Pilot’s License in 1976.

As a young man, Glenn worked with his father in a marine store his father owned. He was a certified mechanic to service and repair Evinrude motors. He was a member of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club in Buckeye Lake, Ohio, and he was part of a four-person sailing team that sailed in Lightning Class competitions. 1n 1963, his team had the privilege of flying to Lima, Peru to compete in the International Lighting Class Association’s world championship.

He was an entrepreneur at heart. He founded many businesses and was self-employed through the years until moving to Florida. He was awarded many accolades for computer programs he had written. He holds a patent for a computer program he wrote named NetProject. He was last employed by the State of Florida working as a Senior Systems Analyst out of the Tax Collector’s Office for the Martin County Board of Commissioners in Stuart, Florida.

Among Glenn’s qualities, he was a very, very kind man. He was very intelligent and could do anything he put his mind to. He would watch YouTube and teach himself what he wanted to do: such as remodel his home entirely and rebuild the engine in his car.

Glenn had four passions: all things FOOD, all things SCIENCE, all things to do with the SPACE program and all things TESLA. He traded his five-year-old Tesla in on a 2026 Model Y and was able to drive it for about two months before he was no longer able to drive. He ate, lived and breathed TESLA.

Glenn married in 1988 and lived on Buckeye Lake in Millersport, Ohio until they moved to Fort Pierce, Florida in 2003. They purchased and lived aboard a 40 foot Beneteau sailboat for two years before purchasing a home in Vero Beach, Florida. Had it not been for hurricanes in Florida, they would have lived out their lives on the Beneteau. After experiencing three hurricanes in two years, they decided they better get their feet on the ground and get a home.

Glenn attended First United Methodist Church of Fort Pierce, Florida and dearly loved Pastor Jeff Brinkman and Pastor Timothy Barton. He loved both pastors and was thankful he came to know these two spiritual leaders. He was a member of the Alturas Lodge No. 537 Masonic Lodge in Millersport, Ohio.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 36 years, Vivian Sue Scott Blume of Vero Beach, Florida; sons, Chad (Becky) Rice of Millersport, Ohio and Travis (Dawn) Rice of Lancaster, Ohio; grandchildren, Justin (Danielle) Miller of Baltimore, Ohio, April Miller of Dallas, Texas, Derrek (Lauryn Miller) Boykin of Lancaster, Ohio, Nikki (Justin Cordle) Nichols of Bremen, Ohio, and Ariel (John Dean) Nichols of Lancaster, Ohio; great grandchildren, Paige Miller, Audrey Prosser and Cylas Miller all of Baltimore, Ohio, Eden Miller-Mota and Emmalyn Miller-Mota both of Dallas, Texas, Aubree Boykin, Shane Boykin, Cole Boykin and Murphy Dean all of Lancaster, Ohio; sister, Mary Quecke of Fountain Valley, California; brothers, Robert Blume of Mesa, Arizona, Alan (Patricia) Blume of Pinehurst, North Carolina, Ronald (Connie) Blume of Arlington, TX, and Ric (Amy) Blume of Westerville, Ohio; nephews, Doug Basham of Denver, Colorado, David J. Glenn was a loving and caring brother. Through the years, as we each had our own lives, we still kept in touch with updates and family reunions. The reunions afforded us amazing family time with memories that I shall always cherish. Glenn’s accomplishments were many. Completing his college education while working, serving to protect our Country, flying his plane, sailing with his wife Sue and creating computer programs were a few of his many achievements. He built a loving relationship with his wife Sue and together they enjoyed many activities with family, friends and church members. His brave battle living with cancer for two years was highly commendable. He will always be missed but his memories will live in my heart forever.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
