Grover Clayton Monroe Jr., 63, of Fort Pierce tragically passed away June 15, 2022 in a car accident.
He was born in Queens, New York on May 29, 1959 to the late Grover Clayton Monroe and Pearl Waldhelm.
Grover was married to the late Maria del Carmen Monroe from June 27, 1987 until they both met their tragic end. It was love at first sight for the pair. Their endless love for each other was one-of-a kind — full of laughter and companionship till the very end of their lives. For their respected families, their relationship was the purest example of true love. The pair’s love was often compared to Romeo and Juliet. They were always by each other’s sides no matter what. Maria will always be his honey lambchop or puff lamb dragon, while Grover will always be her pan dulce.
In the summer of 1990, they moved from New York City to Florida. He had been a resident of Fort Pierce for the last three years of his life.
Grover was a man full of wise words and who could catch the attention of any room. He was known for his love for sports, especially for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Roll tide! Grover had a heart of solid gold and would do anything to help his family. His main goal in his life was to take care of his honey lambchop.
He was survived by his brothers, Grover Wayne Monroe and Russell Brendel, and his nieces and nephews.
Grover will be truly missed by his loved ones. Huggie huggie, Grover.

My dear brother-in-law…It is hard for me to believe that you are no longer with us, but I find peace in knowing you are with your Maria, your honey lamp chop, and that is what changes my tears to a smile…You were so in love, and had no problem with letting everyone know how much…When I find myself going under in grief, I picture those happy faces in the pictures above, and remember your love for one another…Rest in eternal peace and happiness, forever in love, with your honey lamb chop Maria…I love you, and will miss you always…Love, your sister-in-law Angela…

Uncle Grover, words cannot explain how much I miss you already. I would give up anything to get one more call from you. You’d always ask me how work was going, calling me your “favorite stalker” and keeping me updated on how titi was doing. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for my titi. You stayed by her side every step of the way — making sure that she was getting the best care possible to having the hospital play music for her that didn’t go past the 80s. You’ve taught me how much I shouldn’t give up on my family and how important it is to always be there for them. I hope that you and titi are up in heaven with a beach front view and butler service — something you both truly deserve. I love you so much, Uncle Grover. Huggie huggie!
Love, Deanna

I worked with Maria at CDM Smith for years. We had such good laughs and shared similarities of living in the New York/New Jersey area. She and Grover were inseparable. Such a tragedy, but would be worse if one of them was not with the other on Earth. Prayers and Condolences to Maria and Grover’s families.

I have finally found you after all these years. High school was a long time ago.
I was looking at the Alabama LSU game today and immediately thought of you after all these years. My heart aches to hear this news and although we have not talked in 40 plus years I always thought of you as a great friend and brother. We had some great times together. RIP my friend!!
