Haroldene (Deanie) Whitcomb Wolf, 98, of Vero Beach, FL passed away peacefully at Indian River Estates on August 9, 2026. She was born on November 10, 1927, in Scarsdale, NY to Genevieve Garnett Whitcomb and Harold Davis Whitcomb.
Deanie attended Scarsdale High School in NY, graduated from Colby College in Waterville, ME in 1949 and NYU Stern School of Business in 1956.
After college she worked as a credit investigator for Guaranty Trust Co. in NYC and then returned to Colby College as an Instructor in the Business Administration Department teaching accounting.
In 1959, Deanie married Marshall Lea Wolf and spent most of her married life in Chatham, NJ. She continued working as a bookkeeper and tax preparer for a lawyer in Summit, NJ and for H&R Block.
Deanie is survived by a daughter, Wendy (Jon) White of Boxborough, MA; a son, Charlie (Meg) Wolf of Branchburg, NJ; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Melissa White; and three grand dogs, Noah, Lilah and Maisie. She is predeceased by her husband, Marshall; sister, Betty Bunker, from Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law Bob Bunker; and niece Deborah. She is also survived by Betty’s children, Robin (Paul) Timmins; Dumont Bunker and Anne (Rob) Deutsch. She was affectionately known as “GAD” to great niece/nephews Anne (Ryan) Confer, Catherine (Scott) McKenzie, Michael Timmins, Stephen (Blakely) Deutsch and Philip Deutsch; and great-great nieces Caroline, Lucy, Millie, Alice, Emma and Cece.
Deanie was a sports enthusiast and an avid tennis and paddle tennis player for most of her life. She also enjoyed golf (got her first hole-in one at age 85), pickleball, bocce, ping pong and croquet (won her first tournament at age 96). She and Marshall traveled to all of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments. In 1986 and for six years she was a statistician for TenniSTAT Ltd for the US Open in Flushing Meadows, NY and at the Australian Open in 1988. Deanie was also a long-time NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. She enjoyed bridge, reading and doing all types of puzzles – jigsaw, sudoku and Wordle. Her eight dogs, Annapurna, Eve, Chief, Dolly, Bumpers, Dillon, Simon and Juniper, brought great joy to her life and were treated like royalty.
Deanie was an active volunteer in the communities where she lived, particularly in the local libraries and animal rescue. She also served on the Board of Directors for 8 years of Rockywold-Deephaven Camps Inc. on Squam Lake in Holderness, NH where the family has summered since 1968. Additionally, she was a Member of Sea Oaks Beach and Tennis Club and Oak Harbor Club in Vero Beach.
Deanie will be remembered for her strong faith, love of family and her passion for sports. She always had a bright smile, was a fierce competitor in any game she played and was blessed with a keen mind and a quick wit.
The family gives special thanks to Wright Choice, especially Betty, Marcia, and Beverly, and the Willowbrooke Court team for their exceptional care, comfort, and companionship that they provided during her final two years.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in her memory to either the Humane Society of Vero Beach, 6230 77th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32967 or the VNA & Hospice Foundation, 920 37th Place, Suite 101, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A celebration of life will be held at Indian River Estates this fall.

Dear Wendy, Charlie and family,
I was not aware of your of your mother cast interests and accomplishments.
I remember your mom’s ready smile, always getting things done.I the summer tennis whites were her usual attire.
I remember her telling me with great pleasure being a line judge at Orange lawn tennis club.
Here is to your mom who was a force of nature who lived life to the fullest

Wendy, I am so very sorry to learn of your loss. I shall always remember Deanie with her fierce tennis and paddle competitiveness at Chatham Fish and Game. But mostly I Will remember her smile.
