Ira Lerman 1939-2022

Ira Lerman, 82, of Vero Beach, Florida, died 1/4/2022

Ira was born in Newark, New Jersey, on 07/17/1939 to Eva and Louis Lerman. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for 2 years, coming from Nicholson, Georgia and Toms River, New Jersey. Ira Lerman graduated from Asbury Park High School, NJ. He was married to Carol Lerman (1972-1999) and Elizabeth Lerman (2002).

Ira was a lucky guy. He was blessed with two long loving marriages, and a family that loved him dearly. No one would describe Ira as a quiet sweet man. He was loud, opinionated, and unapologetically assertive. However, he was fun, generous, honest, and fair. He was fortunate enough to be actively retired for the last 20 years. Prior to his retirement, Ira sold used cars. Many friends and family purchased a car at one time from Ira. Many of those people still considered him a friend.

Ira loved his family and friends. He spoke regularly to his longtime buddies from grammar school and got together with them whenever possible. Ira loved to socialize. He made friends everywhere and anywhere he went. He discovered a passion for gardening later in life and maintained a large vegetable garden that he would tell everyone and anyone all about. He was physically active and loved taking long walks with his beloved wife Libby.

He is survived by Elizabeth Lerman (spouse); Rebecca (John) Turville, Jason (Cheryl) Lerman, Kimberly (Seth) Horstmann (children); Tim Peek, Tommy Peek, and Terri (Judy) Peek (step-children); Caroline, Adelaide, Hazel, Brittany, Brandon, Stormy, Danny, Cheryl (grandchildren); Seymour (Marilyn) Lerman, Rona Lerman (siblings).

He was predeceased by Carol Lerman (spouse); Eva and Louis Lerman (parents); Suzanne Lerman (sister).

Arrangements are under the direction of Millennium Cremation Service. Condolences may be shared online at www.millenniumcremationservice.com.

I was a neighbor of Ira and Libby here in Nicholson GA.
Everyone loved them.
He was so quick, entertaining, and full of energy.
He was delightful to be around.
I miss the times we went to lunch and dinner.
We had such good times.
Sending love to Libby and Rest In Peace, Ira.
Go find my Frank. He’ll be delighted!!

We are so sorry to lose our friend Ira.
He became friends with Russ over 40 years ago selling cars in NJ. We were friends with he and Carol and their 3 young children and would visit them at their home.
Ira was an usher at our wedding and came to our home for many family parties. There are so many fond memories.
In later years, we had many fun times with Ira and Libby here in Florida . He and Libby attended our son’s wedding 2 years ago in Florida and we had so much fun.
We will miss him and love him always.
Rest In Peace dear friend.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
