Jacqueline Costello (nee) Chiappari, age 88, passed away peacefully at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach on July 11, 2020 following a lengthy battle with vascular dementia. She was adopted in 1932 by Arthur and Jennie Chiappari in New York, NY and lived her youth in New York and New Jersey. She attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY and graduated with a MD in Education from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL in 1954. She began her 30+ year teaching career in Ocala, FL, retired in 1994 and lived the rest of her life in East Central Florida enjoying the beach and sunshine.
Jackie is survived by 2 children and 5 grandchildren from her first marriage. She met her true love and current spouse Robert in 2001 and spent many glorious years enjoying her cats, ocean cruising, raising thoroughbred race horses and just relishing the beach life until a stroke in 2015 left her with diminished capacity and dependent for life care from her devoted partner.

My beloved mom Jackie was my mentor, role model, cheerleader, confidante and my best friend. Jackie was energetic, passionate and devoted to her first husband Richard Costello, to her children Cathy Costello Clair and Rick Costello, to her grandchildren Kevin Clair, Sean Clair and Erin Clair, and to Robin Costello and Christine Costello Pedowitz. We have all sorely missed Mom’s/Meemaw’s presence in our lives. Jackie was committed to her family, to her friends and to the countless students whose lives she touched during her teaching career. Though dementia robbed Jackie of a full life in her twilight years, her legacy lives on in all of us and in the memories we hold dear and will treasure forever. We‘ll love you always, Mom ….your daughter Cathy.
