James Edward Brumbaugh, 93, of Vero Beach, FL died on Sept. 23, 2026.
Jim was born in South Bend, IN and lived in Huntington, IN, Syracuse, IN, and Montserrat before moving to Vero Beach full time in the late 1990’s. He was predeceased by his first wife, Cynthia Brumbaugh. Jim’s wife Barbara Brumbaugh survives, along with his children Ken Brumbaugh (Jill), Karen Mozenter (Mike), and Becky Thiem (Gene), eight grandchildren, their spouses, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his bonus family, Barbara’s children Laurie Mullen (Mark), Debbie Ghigliotti (Gary), four grandchildren, their spouses, and two great grandchildren.
A graduate of DePauw University, Jim served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He worked in the petroleum industry as president and later chairman of C&C Oil Co. in Huntington, IN. He loved to fly, boat and sail, and traveled the world with Cindy and then Barbara. Jim ensured his family stayed close by creating opportunities for everyone to gather, especially at Lake Wawasee. He was so loved by his family and by those in his community who he always greeted by name, with a smile, and – for the furry ones – a pocket full of dog treats.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Crossover Mission, 4425 US Highway 1, Vero Beach, FL 32967 Donate to General Support
