Jeanette Ruth Pfarr (Thomas), aged 95, was born to William and Marie Thomas in Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from Chicago Evangelistic Institute (CEI). She lived in Vero Beach, FL, for the past 67 years.
Jean was a passionate vocalist, choir director, and voice coach to hundreds of students. She owned her own kindergarten and, later in life, a diet center. Jean adored singing, but most importantly, she loved Jesus and to sing praise and worship to her Lord and Savior. She lived and walked every day as a Christian.
There are some people who bring an extra love to the universe when you are in their presence, and Jean was one of them. She was a comfort to all who met her. Those close to her could often hear her reciting, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13), and “If God is for me, who could be against me” (Romans 8:31), or “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10). Psalms 23, 91, and 103 were some of her favorite Bible verses.
She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandbabies, and always wanted to spend every moment with them. She told everyone the Lord kept her on earth so that she could pray for her family and friends.
Jean loved life, travel, and adventure, and could be found riding roller coasters at Disney World at 93 years old – she never wanted to miss out on the fun! She was often seen cheering for her favorite football teams, swimming, playing cards with friends and family, and eating pumpkin pie with extra whipped cream, or any dessert for that matter. Her son, Randy, was her caregiver for over 40 years and they were best friends. Every year she would spend summers in Maine with her daughter, Patti, and family. She enjoyed going out to dinner with her son, Dane.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister, husband, George Pfarr, and many loved ones. She is survived by her three children, Randy Pfarr of Vero Beach, FL, Patti Sleeper (George) of Maine, and Dane Pfarr (Janine) of Vero Beach, FL; her nine grandchildren, Aaron (Alix), Torrie (Tony), Kara, Elise, Brittany, Elizabeth, Rena, Stephanie, and Timothy, and three great grandchildren, Emma, Liam, and Ryder. Also, she is survived by her siblings, whom she adored, Evelyn, Morgan, and Timothy.
We will miss you, dearly, Mom, Grandma, Gigi, Sister, and Friend.

Just reading this makes me miss Aunt Jeanie even more. She was a joy to everyone who was around her. She made every party special. She taught me how to sing. She knew how to laugh, how to pray and how to say “Thank you Jesus”. Aunt Jeanie could make everyone feel they were her favorite. I will always remember this gift from the Lord, Aunt Jeanie.

Jeannie was my loving sister and my second mother. She took care of me all my life. When Joanie and I were led into full time missionary and pastoral ministry, Jeannie prayed for us faithfully and supported us every single month for many, many years. Her beautiful smile and loving joy was an inspiration to us. She will be remembered for all our lives.

So sad to hear the news of “Aunt Jean’s” passing. She was an incredible Woman. A true friend to my Mom, Ruth McCloud, and our entire family for many many years. I was honored to have taken a few vocal lessons from her over the years. She was truly gifted and anointed Vocalist! Most important, Aunt Jean loved the Lord with all of her heart. What a legacy she has left all of us! Love, Billy McCloud & Family

My Aunt Jeanie… How do you condense a lifetime of wonderful memories to a few paragraphs?
Her contagious laugh, her love of music, the way she called everyone ‘precious’. She truly made you feel special. One of my favorite memories of her was her singing in my mom’s and dad’s A Frame living room overlooking beautiful scenery with mom accompaning her on the piano… Standing there in her operatic pose singing so everyone on the balconies could hear…’oh How I love him, How I adore him, my blessed Saviour, my all in all… That song summed up her life. I will miss you my precious Aunt Jeanie ❤️
