John Thomas Gruber, 71, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on November 2, 1954, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Paul Richard Gruber Jr. and Mary Fogerty Gruber, John spent his early years in Connecticut before moving to Florida in the 1970s. It was there that he dedicated his life to Christ and, in 2008, became an ordained pastor at Christ Family Church—an honor and calling he cherished deeply.
On November 9, 1996, John married the love of his life, Angela Winton, and together they built a life filled with unshakable faith, adventure, laughter, and devotion.
John is survived by his loving wife, Angela Winton Gruber; his two beloved children, Kathryn Whitney Hernandez (Joe) and Joshua John Gruber; his granddaughter, Audrey Anicia Hernandez; his sister, Barbara L. Donorfio (William); his brother, William L. Gruber; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Richard Gruber III.
John will be remembered for his generosity, strength, kindness, and his steadfast commitment to both his faith and his community. He was a proud member of Soldiers for Jesus and a devoted member of the AA Bayshore Group for 37 years. A hardworking and dedicated business owner, John operated Preferred Roofing, All American Pest Management, and Easy Grow Green. To all who knew him, he leaves behind a legacy of pastoral guidance, Christ-like character, and unwavering loyalty.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions as a memorial be made in John’s name to the Treasure Coast Hospice Foundation, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997.
