Joseph “Jerry” Bohlinger, 88, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Somerset House.
Jerry was born on February 23, 1936, in Oregon to the late Clifford Joseph Bohlinger and Barbara Jeanne Sivard. He was lovingly brought up by his grandparents, Hazelett and Nettie Sivard, and later lived with his Uncle Frank Sivard in Philadelphia.
Jerry was a talented basketball player, playing varsity for LaSalle High School. He later attended Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, MD on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1959. Jerry returned to Philadelphia to begin his career in equipment sales and later established his successful business, Bohlinger, Inc., in Conshohocken, PA.
In 1963, Jerry met Maryanne Smith, and they married in 1965, sharing nearly 60 years of life together. Jerry and Maryanne traveled extensively and were active in their golf community at Overbrook Country Club. In 2005, after frequent, extended visits to Florida, Jerry and Maryanne settled in Vero Beach at Grand Harbor. Ever committed to their community, Jerry was active in Grand Harbor’s golf and social circles until Maryanne’s death in April 2024.
Jerry will be sadly missed by his brother Michael L. Bohlinger and his wife, Mary Anne; niece, Kelsey L. Bohlinger; and nephew, Michael A. Bohlinger.
A gathering to celebrate Jerry’s life will be announced at a later date.

Jerry was one of our first acquaintances when we moved to Grand Harbor four years ago. He would walk his dog by our house, and always engage in friendly conversation. Jerry was a very interesting and personable man. A true gentleman. We subsequently met Maryanne and enjoyed a nice friendship. Jerry, and MaryAnne, will be greatly missed.
