Joseph L. Terlizzese, 84, was summoned by his Lord and Savior on August 3, 2022, joining his beloved parents James and Katherine, brother Jim, sisters Louise and Roseanne Brooks. Joseph was born in Mt. Vernon, NY.
He leaves behind his loving and loved wife of 64 years, Sandi, along with three sons: Joe Jr. (wife Kathi), Steve (wife Lorri) and Paul (wife Laura, along with his granddaughters Anna Marie and Katherine). He is also survived by sisters, Marianne Leggio and Diane Clough and three nieces and nephews. Also included as family are Roxanne Decker with husband Tim and son, Austin.
Joseph served in the US Army 1957-60. He joined the Ft Lauderdale Police Department, 1961-1978, rising to the rank of Captain and Chief of the Organized Crime Department. He served with distinction as Police Chief for the Town of Palm Beach 1978-1998, then retired to Vero Beach, FL. He was an active member of Christ Church, Vero Beach.
He drew comfort and joy from his lap kitty, Patches and long conversations with nephew Vinny and lifelong friend John Pieroni.
A celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at Christ Church, 667 20th Street, Vero Beach at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17th. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the no-kill shelter H.A.L.O., 710 Jackson Street, Sebastian, FL 32958 (where he adopted his beloved lap kitty, Patches) or the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Joe’s love and words of wisdom will be truly missed. He was an amazing person who accomplished so much and lead his family with love and compassion every day. There is a reason the good Lord gave us memories… we will hold on to them tightly!
