Judy Lynn Thorpe

October 21, 1957 ~ August 24, 2021

Judy Lynn Thorpe, 63, of Palm City, FL beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, departed this life on August 24, 2021, after a brief illness.

She was born on October 21, 1957, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Roy and LaVeta (Call) Hooker. She graduated from Wintersville High School, OH, 1975 and attended The Ohio State University, and University of South Carolina, earning degrees in English Lit, Accounting,  and a CPA degree. She worked in banking and public accounting.

Judy married her college sweetheart, Richard “Rick” Thorpe in 1983, and shared their home in Columbia, SC,  Orangeburg, SC, raised her children in Orlando, FL, and moved with her family to Palm City, FL in 2005.  She was a member of Palm City Presbyterian Church and a supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Association.

Judy will be remembered always for her kind, tender heart and fun loving spirit.  She was a loving mother and she treasured family sentiments, photos and mementos.  She was adventurous, loved travel,  museums, music, books, libraries, she enjoyed her pets and protected small creatures. She loved being in nature, beaches, gardens and sharing flowers with others. She encouraged us with her smile and steady, honest and loyal spirit. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends both near and far.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, of 38 years, Palm City FL; a son, Alex and a daughter, Jenna ; a sister, Becky (Noel) DaSilva, Palm City FL; a sister-in-law, Renee Thorpe Infinger, Matthews, NC; three nephews, a neice and their families  and several cousins.

Judy’s sweet, gracious and loyal spirit will be greatly missed.  She leaves many family members and friends to cherish her memory.

I am truly saddened by this news. My deepest sympathies go out to you and the family during this very difficult time. I had the pleasure to get to know Judy working with her on the community board for a couple of years, she was such a sweet and kind woman, she will be missed.
