Judy Kay Flippin, 66, of Vero Beach, Florida traveled to Sea Glass Heaven on September 16, 2024. She’s on the trip of a lifetime!
Judy spent her childhood plowing and picking cotton in Electra, TX. By the age of seven, she took pride in being a solo driver of the family farm tractor. As part of the EHS athletics program, Judy was an all-star basketball and tennis player. She also was the school’s tiger mascot. Judy attended college on a basketball scholarship, played tennis & enjoyed being the school’s kangaroo mascot. After college, Judy was a high school teacher and coach for nine years before venturing into the corporate world in Dallas, Texas. She moved to “Paradise” (Vero Beach) in June of 2018.
Judy enjoyed cruising on the open seas, keeping a meticulous yard, and walking four miles each day. She loved hunting sea glass, expressing herself through fused glass and bottle cap art, puzzling, playing euchre, hitting the slot machines, playing wordle daily and drinking an occasional glass of red wine. Judy always said her claim to fame was never having a cavity or until age 64 a prescription! Her greatest “Joy” in life was being able to care for her mother (96) and Aunt Ruby (101) until their passing!
Judy is survived by her long-time traveling companion, Mary Keeton. Best Friend Christie Congleton. Close Friends Gayla Magill, Kim Nance, Patti Hackett, Denise Schnitker and Sherry Hickman. Numerous other wonderful Texas friends, cousins, and classmates along with her God-Son Christian Flores, and her brother, Danny Flippin, Jr.
Also, Special Friends Randy Haygood and Maria Sparsis from Tea and Chi where she spent many hours around the table talking and laughing.
Judy is proceeded in death by her parents, Dan & Bea Flippin, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dearest friends Lena Flores , Darlene Crouch & Kelly Mercy. All of whom she is happily with now!
Judy was known for her “Smile” which was a “Ray of Sunshine” to all those she met. She filled us all with warmth and love. She had a heart of gold and has always helped others when they needed it! When you think of Judy, “Smile” , thats what she would want you to do!
Special Thanks to Virgie Holbrook of “Leap of Faith Church” in Sherman, Texas. Virgie was in constant contact with Judy throughout her ovarian cancer journey.
Judy did not want a formal or traditional funeral; she wanted a “Celebration of Life.” Her desire was for her friends and loved ones to get together to share “Judy” stories and lots of laughter!
Date to be determined.

Judy was a one-of-kind. I’m so privileged to have known her. She was always a ray of sunshine and brightened a room. RIP dear Judy. We will miss your physical form but the memories will last lifetimes.

Judy’s greatest gift was the love she shared with everyone she knew, met in a casino, on a cruise or simply the beautiful Children walking to school. As a late blooming Artist, she discovered creative ways to bring joy to many. It was my great honor to know her as my Sister and friend. I smile every time I hear her name, see an unfinished puzzle, or a stack of bottle caps waiting for a new art project. The mold for Earthly Angels was broken at 1:49 am, September 16, 2024. I will love her always.

Met Judy when her mom was at Wesley Village Assisted Living with my parents many years ago. We became friends and never lost touch. She was a great human being and will be greatly missed.

Rest in Peace, Judy. We are so glad we were able to spend some special time with Judy on one of her last trips to Texas. Mary, we will always cherish the time we spent at the lake…pontooning, repairing fences and playing a new card game with neighbors…of course Judy mastering the game within minutes! Memories that will live forever in our hearts…..
Love you,
Kathy and Cyndi

Rest in peace Judy. Sometimes I get to meet some of the most beautiful people. My friendship with Judi and Mary just began, and even though short-lived, I knew it was forever. I hoped that Judy‘s forever was longer than it turned out to be. As I count my blessings, I know my time with Judy was precious and I am all the better for it.
Much love,
Pat
