Karen Stratter passed away unexpectedly and peacefully, surrounded by her daughter, Kristine Ming, and her son, Jason Cardoso, on May 12, 2026.
Karen was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on June 18, 1964, to her parents, Vincent Stratter and Inge Helms.
She was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and Oma to her five grandchildren: Kassidy, Killian, Hayden, Kyran, and Jaxen.
She is survived by her children, Johnathan Patton, Timothy Aldridge, Kristine Ming, and Jason Cardoso. She is also survived by her siblings, Jonathan Stratter, Dawn Stratter -Waugaman, and Sonja Dyess, as well as her stepmother, Jerry Stratter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Byron Carrier.
Throughout her life, Karen faced many hardships and challenges, but her family was incredibly proud of the strength she showed in changing her life and overcoming obstacles that many never could. Though life was not always easy, Karen continued to grow, love deeply, and become someone her family was proud to call Mom and Oma.
When Karen was younger, she loved surfing and spending time at the beach, something she continued to enjoy throughout her life. The beach remained her home away from home. She especially loved the rain and thunderstorms, often finding peace and comfort in stormy weather.
Karen also deeply loved Christmas and treasured making cookies with her children when they were younger, later passing those traditions down to her grandchildren. Some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by family, laughter, and the people she loved most.
Karen will be remembered for her stubborn spirit, sense of humor, strength, and the love she carried for her family.
Karen will be missed more than words can express. Forever loved as our Mom, Oma, Sister, and Daughter.

Jason and family your Mom was an awesome friend, I will miss her tremendously. She was their when I needed a friend. We knew how to make each other on a bad day crack up laughing. I can say Aiden and all of you were the lights of her life. Then I got to meet you all and totally understood why. Aiden she loved to tell stories about and I knew how much she loved him. You all were what kept her motivated. We always talked about our kids, and she had so many funny stories. I was proud to call her my friend. Just remember those stories. Love you Ms.K

I will miss Karen dearly. I worked with her at Sprouts. It felt like we knew each other forever. The world needs more people like her. Heaven gained an angel and I know she will be watching out for all of us.
