“Forever In Our Hearts”

My Beloved Wife, Lucy, 68, suddenly and peacefully passed away at home in Vero Beach, FL on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. She was born in Fort Kent, Maine on November 21, 1952. She attended Fort Kent schools and graduated in 1972 prior to moving to Connecticut where she worked at Ensign-Bickford Industries until her retirement in 2016. Then moving to Florida the same year and enjoyed her well deserved retirement in paradise until her passing.

She led a very active life, was very sociable and easily made many wonderful friends. She loved to travel, Hawaii, Las Vegas, throughout the Caribbean and her idol’s home, Elvis’ Graceland, in Memphis. She always loved the beach and was ecstatic when she moved to Vero Beach. She loved to play outdoor games especially Shuffleboard and Bocce with great friends even on the day she passed.

Lucy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Roderick (Rick) Martin of Vero Beach, FL, a son, Scott Martin and wife, Jaime and grandson, Joseph of South Windsor, CT, a daughter, Laurie Martin and grandson, Alexander of Manchester, CT, and a granddaughter, Alyssa Martin-Feldman of Tampa, FL. She was from a large family, she is survived by three brothers, Roy Plourde of Farmington, CT, Elson Plourde of Barefoot Bay, FL, Wallace Plourde and wife, Sandra of Sun City Center, FL. She also leaves three sisters, Bernice Roy and husband Roger of Frenchville, ME, Lillian Caron of Bozrah, CT and Glenda Plourde of Maine. Lucy also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She is predeceased by her father, Aime Plourde, mother, Leontine Plourde. Brothers Ernie, Sylvio, Gilton and Alton. Sisters Theresa, Sylvia, Phyllis and Carolyn.

There are no calling hours and a beautiful Memorial Service was held at Vero Palm Estates in Vero Beach, FL by the lake with her loving family and friends on May 8.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held 11 am, June 26, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor, CT for her family and friends followed by refreshments in the church hall.

I extend my sincerest condolences. May she Rest In Peace.

I have wonderful memories of our visits to the Plourde farm and how adventurous and bold Lucy was. Her laughter was contagious.

May you find comfort in the prayers being said at this difficult time.

I just learned of my aunt’s passing on Facebook today, July 1, 2022. I’m very sad to hear of her passing. I remember waiting for my aunt to return from school when I was a kid and would periodically stay at my grandparent’s’. She was an energetic and vivacious girl and I’m sure she retained those qualities as a woman. I had hoped that I would be able to reach her via Facebook. I offer my sincere condolences to my aunt’s family, especially her husband and her children.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
