Margaret Carmella (Piccerillo) Desmery, 87, died peacefully after a brief illness on January 2, 2024. Born on August 5, 1936, in Roseto, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Piccerillo and Mary (Malpiedo) Piccerillo, and sister of the late Concetta Genevieve (“Jay”) Fiorot.
“Baby” Margaret graduated from Bangor High School in 1954, and Easton Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She married Dr. Martin (“Desi”) Desmery of San Nicolas, Argentina, in 1960 and had two sons, Martin and Mark. After several years in Argentina, Marge and Desi settled in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, where they lived until retiring to Florida in 1990.
Marge was an avid bridge player (Gold Life Master), a renowned party planner, a prodigious reader, an indifferent golfer, a loyal friend, a loving wife and mother, and a proud gramma and great-gramma. Her community volunteer activities included work for the YMCA (Newburgh, NY), the Powelton Club (Newburgh, NY), the Cornwall Hospital Ladies Auxiliary Club (Cornwall, NY), the Vero Beach Bridge Club (Vero Beach FL), and the Meadowood Golf and Country Club (Fort Pierce, FL).
Marge is survived by her husband and sons, her daughters-in-law (Diane Desmery and Kathleen Desmery), her six grandchildren (Emily Kane, Virginia Monsen, Alexander Desmery, Owen Desmery, Martin Desmery & Jude Desmery), her grandsons-in-law (Michael Kane and Kyle Monsen), and her great-granddaughter (Margot Kane), who was named in her honor.
