Miles Barry Reese of Port St Lucie, Fl passed away on November 3, 2020 at Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital in Port St Lucie, FL. He was born in New Haven, CT and is survived by his wife of 42 years, Angela Carcia Reese, his daughter, Alicia Reese, his son, Franklin Reese, his daughter in law, Laura Reese and his granddaughter, Daylyn Reese. He and his wife moved to Florida in 2002.
Miles was very proficient in and had great passion for many areas. At 14 years old, he was the saxophone player for Fred Parris and the Five Satins. He went on to play with many of the popular “Motown” bands and singers. He loved playing to and interacting with large audiences.
Miles was an expert pilot and loved to fly his family to Florida for vacations, even when it was only for a weekend. When in Florida, he would right seat with new and not so new pilots, giving his expertise in the enjoyment of flying always with a serious note toward safety.
Miles had a computer when they were just a novelty and he became an expert, being only one of 3 people on the commuter train to New York to exchange info and articles. He was an enthusiastic about anything that took his interest and made it a point to master each. When in Florida, he took up a hobby of restoring old, damaged photos, much to the delight of his friends. He was also an outstanding pianist. There wasn’t a piano he wouldn’t or couldn’t play. On cruises, he would stop at any unoccupied piano and serenade for hours.
In business, he saw opportunities and worked to advance himself. He was a Director of Leasing at Potamkin Cadillac in New York City on his upward trek to Wall Street where he became Senior Vice President at several firms, including Raymond James. After 9/11 he retired and moved to Florida where among other jobs, he became a broker with TransWorld Business Brokers.
After leaving TransWorld, Miles returned to his first love, his saxophone, completing the circle by continuing to play the songs he loved and grew up with, The Detroit sound, Doo-Wop classics, R&B.
The most impressive of all the above is that he was self-taught and self-motivated in all aspects of his life.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to www.AmericanDiabetesAssociation.com , he was very passionate about educating others on diabetes. Then sit back, go to www.OneSaxyGuy.com and listen to his music.
