Moira Sneed Miller, 58, died September 25th at Cleveland Clinic Indian River hospital after a lengthy illness. Moira was born on December 4, 1965 in Fort Pierce, the eldest daughter of Jimmy Sneed and Julie Enders. She was a graduate of John Carroll High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in social work from Central Florida University in Orlando.
She returned to Fort Pierce and joined the Head Start program, teaching St. Lucie County underprivileged preschoolers, a job she found challenging but also very rewarding. Several years later she decided to pursue another career, one that she thought would be just as fulfilling. After attending culinary school, she worked as a chef in several Treasure Coast restaurants, most notably serving for 15 years as head chef at the Vero Beach Yacht Club. More recently she worked at the Solaris assisted living residence, a job that combined her passion for cooking and her social work skills, befriending the residents who enjoyed her company and the meals she prepared.
But by far her greatest joy in life was raising her two sons with her beloved husband of 27 years, Robert. Often referred to as the “glue” that kept her family so close, she adored their weekly outings at the beach, family trips, and the many laughs shared over her beloved home cooked meals. She will be remembered fondly for her fun loving attitude and tight-knitted family values.
Moira is survived by her husband Robert Miller, sons, James Miller and Matthew Miller, brother Jeffrey Sneed (Cathy), sisters Nicole Sneed (Matt) and Tierney Sneed (Jim), many beloved nieces and nephews, and the countless friends she made along the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Sneed and Julie Enders and her brother Michael Sneed.
A celebration of life for Moira and her brother Michael will be held privately at a later date. Memorial donations in Moira’s name can be made either to your favorite charity or watering hole, where you are encouraged to tie a few on and tell a few stories of the many great times we were all lucky enough to share with her.
