Claudia Lynn Carden, beloved mother, granny, and wife passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 16th, 2023. She was born in the Bronx, NY on August 14, 1944. Claudia was the youngest of Wilhelmina and John Quigley’s children, Irene, Jack, and Edith. The four siblings remained close all of their lives, and laughed hardest and proudest when in each other’s company. Reminiscing about childhood was among their favorite things to do together.
Claudia was preceded in death by her mother Wilhelmina, her infant daughter Claudia Lynn Juliette, her father John, and her brother, Jack. She is survived by her husband Richard, Saintly son David, daughters Donna, Jacqueline, Marcelle, Suzanne, and stepchildren Michael and Kathryn. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren (Samantha, Laney, Kayla, Matthew, Shawn, Naomi, Marshall, Genevieve, Jesse, and Mikey) and one great-grandchild (Oliver).
As a stay-at-home mother for most of her adult life, Claudia was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She was also devoted to caffeine-free diet coke, but she was so much more than that. She was kind, playful, spunky, rebellious, generous, a lover of pigs, and always had cats and/or dogs. She loved to sing and dance to 1950’s music and had a sensational sense of humor.
She is loved and missed terribly. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of the organizations below that were important to her:
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome: American Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Institute | sids
American Diabetes Association: American Diabetes Association | Research, Education, Advocacy
American Heart Association: American Heart Association | To be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives

My condolences to the family. Losing your Mother/Grandmother is a very hard thing to go through. My heart goes out to you all. Claudia was always warm and welcoming. She gave the best hugs and never minded my naps on the couch. She always made me feel like one of her girls. I’ll never forget that. Lots of love and rest in peace Mrs. Claudia.

My dear sister in law, I will never forget the good times we had from the babysitting with Pepsi and M & M’s
to the laughter and private talks we had. The crazy cat that attacked me and had to lock myself up in the back room till you got home. From Hot Pants to the best music of all time to “there are no more fish in the Sea……….mmm……mmm……..and so on. Now you are at peace with no more pain. Till we meet again and I will bring the last fish…….if I find one! There are no more! To the good old days with fond memories.
Much love and Thank you for all my wonderful nieces and nephew Dave. Amen. Aunt Hella

Aunt Claudia — thank you for so many wonderful childhood memories.
Growing up in the Bronx, you were just an apartment away. And the summer weeks of “cousin swap” were always something special.
Thank you for all of it.
Love you,
John
