March 06, 1940 ~ February 15, 2023

Patricia R. Murphy, 82 of Sebastian, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at her home, holding the hand of her beloved husband, Frank.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah J. Murphy and Helen Schenk Murphy.

Patricia was a woman devoted to her faith and family.

After raising her 4 children, she went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree and began a fulfilling career in the Special Education field. She taught at Miramar, Flanigan, and Melbourne High Schools and finished her career at Vero Beach High.

She was devoted to her husband, Frank, of 62 years, and her family, and she taught them the values of faith and family. She rarely missed attending a family celebration for a birthday, graduation, a Sacrament, or sporting event.

She enjoyed life and the simple pleasures it offered. She loved sharing a glass of wine, a recipe, a song, a laugh.

She was the loving mother to Coleen Murphy Oporto and her husband Louis, Kathleen Murphy Szamboti, KelleyAnn Murphy Collado, and Daniel Murphy.

Dearest sister of Elaine Murphy, Helene (Honey) Canberg and her husband Bob, Peter Murphy and his wife Maddie, and she was pre-deceased by her brother Jeremiah and his wife Mary.

Patricia was the cherished grandmother to her 11 grandchildren, Dylan, Thomas, and Patrick Oporto, Frank and Kelley Rose Szamboti, Caleb and Erin Esparza, and Sherie, Zachary, Colin, and Madison Wolfe and her one beautiful great-grandchild, Isla Esparza. They were the light of her life and she cherished moments and memories shared with them. She will also be fondly remembered by her 27 loving nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Au revoir mon cher ami. Thanks for so many dear memories: lanai and patio laughs, Saturday morning tennis followed by Beet’s Country Kitchen, Pines Par Three with pitchers of beer-baskets of wings-nonstop country music, kayaking Crystal River and fried grouper platters, laughs til we peed our pants and shared tears over disappointments. Pat, stay connected. I’ll need your shoulders. There’s not another you.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
