Phillip Leon Milton

December 01, 1975 ~ March 21, 2024

Phillip L. Milton (48) of St. Johns, Michigan (most recently residing in Vero Beach, Florida) passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2024.

Phillip was born to Donny L Milton and Sharon L (Calhoun) Milton on December 1, 1975 in Lansing Michigan.  He was predeceased by his mother Sharon and only brother, Ronald E Milton.   Surviving are his two children, Kyle (Emilee) Milton and Brooke Milton; one grandson, Donald Irwin as well as his father, Donny.

Phillip graduated from St. John High school class of 1994 and attended Scottsdale Culinary School ( Le Cordon Bleu ) class of 1996. In addition he received his bachelors degree in computer science from University of Tampa.

Phillip was known as Chef Phil to many as he spent endless hours in the kitchen perfecting his craft including working along side some great chefs and mentoring others along the way. Chef worked in many fine dining country clubs, resorts and restaurants before opening his own restaurants in Pittsburgh and Detroit.

After 9/11 he took a pause in his career as a chef to serve in the US Army as an infantry man, he received an honorable discharge with many service awards including Global War on Terrorism and the National Defense Service Award.  Phillip will be laid to rest  at Jacksonville national cemetery.

In lieu of a ceremony or flowers, the family would love for you to attend or host a culinary event in his honor of chef or donate to support No Kid Hungry (events.nokidhungry.org) or (nokidhungry.org)

No Kid Hungry’s culinary events highlight the nation’s finest talent in the food and drink industry, all united under one cause: ending childhood hunger. Each year these events raise the critical funds needed to support No Kid Hungry’s work to ensure that all children in America get the healthy food they need, every day.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
