Richard Gollinge, “Mickey”, 81, of Vero Beach, Florida, formally of Amityville, NY, passed away at home surrounded by family on October 19, 2023. Richard was born in Brooklyn, NY, and married to Patricia for 60 years, recently celebrating their anniversary June 1st. Survived by his wife Patricia; sons Richard (Tami) and Stephen (Debra); grandchildren Jacquelline, Emily, Eric, and Alek; and great grandchild, Sylvie. Richard was predeceased by his brother Walter and sister Agnes.
He was a Navy veteran, devoted husband, dedicated family man, avid fisherman, craftsman, woodworker, and would help anyone who needed it. He was known by his grandchildren as Grandpa Lemon, or GL for short, which he graciously accepted.
Grandpa Lemon, our hero, will forever be in our hearts and will live on through his family.

I’m grateful to have met Grandpa Lemon and share some good laughs with him. I only wish I’ve spent more time with him, he was a man of great values and true strong care and commitment to his family. From the conversations I did have with him I’ll hold forever. He was truly a great man.

GL was a hero to me, ever since I was young boy. I’ve never respected a man as much as him and am grateful to have known and loved him throughout my life. His legacy will live on and he will be honored every day. I love you Grandpa. WWGLD

It was an honor to have met you, I am blessed to have spent time with you, Pat and the Gollinge Family, all the stories you shared a true hero, husband, father, grandfather and son, always working on something you had an amazing gift with your hands; praying for all of you, he will be greatly missed, I have no words. In my 45 years in policing I’ve never worked for a better person. Not only was he a great chief, he was an outstanding human being. A man who was dedicated to his family and to the badge that he wore so proudly. During my years of working with the Chief, I became close to him and his wife Pat. Chief Gollinge was not only recognized for his many achievements on the job, but also his unwavering dedication to his family.
Before moving to California in 2013, I had the opportunity to visit the Chief and his wife Pat. We exchanged stories of our shared experiences on the job.
One of the qualities that stood out most about him was his consistent treatment of everyone with respect, regardless of their rank. He was not just a pillar of leadership, but also a close friend. His absence will be deeply felt by many, especially those of us who had the honor of calling the Chief our friend. Rest in peace Chief.

Rest in peace Mr. Gollinge. I’ve only spoken to you a few times when on my walks. I could tell how much you loved your family and what a proud Grandfather you were. I know you will be truly missed.
