Roger Eugene McDaniels

March 03, 1946 ~ December 20, 2022

Roger Eugene McDaniels of Vero Beach, Florida passed away on December 20, 2022, at the age of 76. He was born in Prairie Grove, Arkansas in 1946 to Loyd and Alma Madge Roy McDaniels. Roger, the youngest of four children, was born in Lincoln, Arkansas. He learned the value of hard work at a young age. He was only 13 years old when his father passed away, leaving him to run the family’s chicken farm with his mother.

Roger attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. Relocating to Newport News, VA in the early 1970s, Roger began his career with the Vocational Rehabilitative Services, retiring after 38 years with the State of Virginia.

Once retired, Roger achieved his goal of moving to Florida where the fishing season never ends. Nothing brought him greater joy in life than spending time fishing, hunting and visiting Disney Theme Parks with his family.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife Kathy, brother L.B.; sons Bryan and Chris (Kimberly); two stepchildren, Scott and Dana; and four grandchildren, Connor, Mikayla, Braden and Emory.

Arrangements are under the direction of Millennium Cremation Services. Condolences may be shared online at www.millenniumcremationservice.com. In lieu of flowers, please join us in a toast to Roger’s life wherever you are at 5pm on January 5, 2023.

Mine and Sue’s condolence goes to Kathy and Roger’s two sons and family. I met Roger when we moved to Poquoson in 1997. He was my next door neighbor.
I soon learned that we had two things in common; HS football officiating and salt water fishing. We had some great times fishing in the bay and ocean. Our prayers go to the family and the loss of a very good friend.

Roger–it was indeed an honor and privilege to work with you for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Here is hoping you keep them in the fair ways and all the greens putt true.
I will have one for you on the 5th.

Fair winds and following seas.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
