Ruth Albrecht McCloud

September 24, 1929 ~ September 29, 2024

Ruth Albrecht McCloud, 95, of Vero Beach, died Sept. 29, 2024, with family by her side. She was born in Elma, New York, on Sept. 24, 1929, to Christian and Barbara Albrecht.
She moved to Vero Beach from Buffalo, New York, at the age of 16 when her father decided to start the first Assembly of God church (on Old Dixie Highway) in Indian River County. She remained active in church throughout her life, including singing and playing her trumpet.
She owned her own wallpaper business, hanging paper in both businesses and private homes. She was a perfectionist when came to wallpaper, looking for visible seams whenever she entered a room. She also remembered customers and their wallpaper years later.
Her smile and friendly demeanor carried over into other areas of her life. Almost every Sunday found someone new around the dinner table after church. And those meals and fellowship were legendary, with her getting up in the early-morning hours before church to prepare several types of meats and vegetables.
She is survived by her four children: Ernest (Cheryl) McCloud; Charles (Amy) McCloud; Kathleen (Chris) Lair; and William (Lori) McCloud; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest C. McCloud; and her parents. She was the last surviving member of Christian and Barbara Albrecht’s 13 children.

Saddened by the loss I know you feel having her not physically here, but know she is with the one who created her and surrounded by many friends worshipping God together. I can’t even imagine what that looks like. All the memories you have, hold them near and reminds each of them often. Love you all!

What an amazing lady! She will be remembered by everyone that knew her. She is right where she wanted to be, in Heaven with her Lord and her loved ones and waiting on the ones that are still about the Father’s business on this earth! You, family, are the legacy she left behind! Our prayers are going up for the family!

Aunt Ruthie was such a joy to visit. The few times that I made trips to Florida (from California) she was always there with a hug for me. What a reunion she is experiencing now with Jesus, with friends, and with long ago departed loved ones! Sending prayers (from British Columbia) of comfort and peace for family and friends.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
