Susan Dale Smith

April 13, 1944 ~ November 25, 2022

Susan Dale Smith Left us behind on November 25th, 2022. Her daughter, Carrie Chanel is not alone in her grief. Judy Hargarten, Joan and Brent Kehn, Cheryl and Daryl Bryer (her sisters and their husbands), numerous nieces, a few nephews (we have always been short of boys) and cousins share in her sorrow. Susie was born in Loup City, NE. She attended Ashton, NE High School, where her mother Gayle, was her math teacher. She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in English and was President of her Alpha Phi Sorority. She got her “wings” with United Airlines, when white gloves, hats, heels and stockings were the norm for stewardess attire. She married Gary Smith in the San Francisco Bay area. Once Carrie was in elementary school, Susie pursued her Real Estate License in Danville, California, where the family lived for many years. As Carrie grew, Susie’s interest grew to Antiques. She became a store owner in Lake Tahoe, selling mountain collectibles. With Carrie off to college in Los Angeles, Susie moved to Vero Beach, Florida to be closer to family and once again pursue her career as a Real Estate Agent. Teaming up with her sister Judy, at the Moorings, they were a successful duo, called “The Sister Act”. There are no “dates” here, as timelines did not apply to her. She was Forever young, Forever a “tom-boy” and loved by us all. Susie was such an entertaining and bright light in our lives, nothing short of extraordinary. We will miss her always…

Susie is my soul cousin and I miss her so much. I grew up with her, went to school with her, and spent family time and friendship time with Susie. The pain over her loss is still there and I know will last for a long time. Love you so much, Susie, and feel for your daughter, Carrie.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
