Thomas F. Onderdonk, 84, of Vero Beach passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the VNA Hospice House. Tom, as he was more affectionately known, was born April 18, 1937 in Rochester, New York to Harold and Marion (nee’ Burris) Onderdonk. He worked for as a machinist for General Motor. Following his retirement he and his wife, Kathleen “Kay”, relocated to Vero Beach 7 years ago. In his spare time Tom enjoyed camping, traveling, and watching NASCAR races both live and on television. It was his family that Tom cherished most. He loved taking care of the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids; vacationing with family; and upon moving to Vero he could usually be found helping out at the family business. Tom was active in the “Walk to Emmaus” events. He was a member of First Methodist Church in Vero Beach where he provided security, and he and Kay were members of the Couples Life Group. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kay L. Onderdonk; sons, Scott (Clara), Robert (Susan), John (Teri), Don (Linda), and Michael (Julie); daughters, Cheryl (Doug), Susan (Anthony), Catherine, Pamela, Lisa (Scott), Patricia (Bobby), Barbara, Margaret (Joseph) and Danielle; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and foster children. The family will be holding services at First Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
