Vincent John Lane, 91, passed away on Memorial Day, May 29th, 2023 in Vero Beach, Florida. Born in 1931 to Calvin and Prudence (Waugh) and raised in the Boston area, Vincent graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in 1953. Lieutenant Lane subsequently served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ingraham (DD-694) as Chief Engineer. A naval architect and mechanical engineer, Vincent was successful in many endeavors, both professional and personal, though he struggled at times with his golf game.
Vincent was predeceased by his siblings Henry, Mary, Tom, Prudence, Claire, Madeline, and Agnes. He is survived by his sister Kathleen and his loving wife, Ann (Haney). He leaves behind his five children with his late wife Eleanor (Schildbach): Jennifer, Gregory, Timothy, Douglas, and Justin, most of whom inherited his love of coffee, sweets, and a good book, and who in turn blessed him with a host of grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Vincent will undoubtedly be best remembered for his raucous sense of humor, and he would not have wanted it any other way.
