Willard W. Siebert, Jr. passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida at the age of 83. He was the son of Willard W. and Eve J. Siebert. He attended elementary school in Vero Beach followed by two years at Riverside Military Academy. He returned to Vero Beach Senior High School in 1956 and was a member of the Class of ’58 and the Fighting Indian Football Team.
After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he became a proud member of the famed 101st Airbourne Division. During his military service, he earned his parachute wings and was a radio operator.
After completing his military service, he returned to Vero Beach and attended Indian River Junior College and played on the college’s inaugural baseball team. He later attended Florida State University and graduated in 1966 with a BS degree in Business Administration.
Upon graduation, Willard accepted a position with the Westvaco Corporation working as a Community Relations Coordinator in Charleston, South Carolina.
In January of 1972, he joined Indian River Citrus Sales. He was soon promoted to the position of Export Sales Manager, making numerous marketing trips to Japan and Europe. He continued his career as Executive VP until he retired in 1996. He served on numerous leadership positions, industry committees and was President of Florida Citrus Packers in 1984.
From 1972 through 1980, Willard was twice elected to the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners. He was selected Chairman in 1976 and again in 1980. During his public service he served on many community boards and committees.
Willard’s blessed life was an extraordinary journey which he shared with his beloved wife of 43 years, Katherine. They had a passion for travel, and they were fortunate to visit many areas of the world. For many years they maintained a summer home in Hiawassee, Georgia and developed a love for hiking, boating, golfing, fishing, reading, relaxing and hanging out with friends.
He is survived by his wife Katherine, six children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. At his request, there will be a private family memorial. Dear Kathie and family,
I have many great memories. Christmas parties at Your house in Vero, boating on the intercostal, visiting you in Hiawassee, drinking from champagne bottles in the kitchen after Sharie’s wedding and you and Will always made us feel at home. Sadly, Both of our guys are gone now so anytime you want to call please do. I’ll be in Florida in the fall and will definitely visit.

Kathy, we were so very sorry to hear about your loss. Willard, ( Bunny ) was one of the kindest men I ever met. I have so many fond memories and stories of the both of you over the years. Bunny was a mentor to me and a friend. Most important to me was the friendship you both had with my mom and dad. When the four of you got together the laughter never stopped. Bunny will be missed by all of us.

Dear Kathy,
We are so sad to have heard about Bunny’s recent passing. I was proud to have worked for Bunny at Indian River Citrus Sales from 1987 until his retirement in 1996. Our Sales Crew all loved how competitive Bunny was, especially at Golf and our Lunchtime Hearts Games. We will miss Bunny’s genuine smile and contagious laughter. We truly loved Bunny
