William J. Stringer

March 06, 1939 ~ October 12, 2022

It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of William Jackie Stringer, 83, of Vero Beach, Florida on Oct 12, 2022. Born Mar 6, 1939 in Murl, Kentucky to James Leslie and Ruth (Lloyd) Stringer, he loved music and spent much of his free time playing guitar and listening to old time country music.  Bill loved golf, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and fixing odds and ends around the house. One of his great prides was completing high school as an adult in his 30’s, having quit school after 8th grade to work. Bill retired after 30 years from Fisher Body/BOC in Lansing MI, moved back to his hometown of Monticello KY, eventually settling in Vero Beach Florida.

He leaves behind Dorothy (Kirk) Stringer, his loving wife of 37 years; children Deborah Stringer,  Brad Stringer, Teresa Huhn (Paul Voisin), and Les Stringer, Tony (Susan) Helms, Chris Helms (Angela) and Troy (Patricia Leskovar) Helms; and honorary brother and sister, Wally and Barbara Waldrop.  Bill had 17 grandchildren: Diedra, Victoria, Jessica, Brandi, Brittany, Tara, Emily, Hannah, Jarod, Olivia, Alexandra, Eli, Zachary, Noah, Sabrina, Josh, and Wayne and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends and Papa’s kids, all of whom will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Carl (wife Euna Mae) Stringer and James (wife Rosie) Stringer.

A memorial service will be held in MIchigan at a date to yet be determined.  Please consider giving to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers or cards.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
